Both my tech and myself thought it absolutely foolish to change out but we were wrong. My theory is the original too high pressure cut out installed on the Spartan chassis strained the system as evidenced by the failed fitting on the compressor fitting. Over a period of ten years the compressor seal started to leak and slowly failed to the point it became a one month issue. I have a whole new combination heater core and A/C coil in storage after I just stopped short of changing it out. New Chinese compressor still working.

Thanks for the update!
BTW, don't be surprised if you need a top-up occasionally. Evans documentation specifies a refrigerant loss (very slight) can occur over time due to porosity of very long hoses. In other words, rear engine diesel RVs are prone to leakage (bubbles) along the hoses.

Metal hose extension failure

2009 DS 4333 side radiator. After dash AC quit I attempted to add freon without success. I was back at the engine compartment and noticed wet on one of the metal hose fittings into the bottom of the radiator. Upon examination the fitting tubing was broken completely through. Shop was able to put a new fitting on the old hose. My guess is the fitting failed due to fatigue as it is hanging unsupported for about 18 inches except where attached to the radiator.

Three years ago on my 2004 DSDP the dash air quit working. I added 4 cans of freon and a day later it wasn't working again. then I added four cans again and a can of leak sealant. two days later it wasn't working again. Again I added four cans of freon and a large can of leak sealant. It's been working ever since.
