Dash Cam Install

I didn't want wires running down to the dash to power my Dash Cam. Since there's power available in the overhead I added a dash mount USB plug by drilling a hole in the overhead cabinet. Used an empty plug on the 12-volt bus bar to power it. The USB cable routes over the top of windshield power shade (used wire blocks to hold it in place).

Nice work. I hope your suction cup holds up better than mine. The one that came with my Garmin 20 kept falling off I suspect because these windshields get so hot.
I found this mount on Amazon that sticks really well and comes two in a pack so now I have one in the toad and one in the coach.

I'm worried about the suction cup mount as well. The one supplied looks to be high quality and the dash cam weighs mere ounces so maybe I'll be lucky. Time will tell.

I have my 7" GPS mounted on the face of the dash for years and not had a problem so I never gave this one a second thought. As you say, it weighs mere ounces.
Every few days, after being parked, the cam had fallen off.
The stick on however holds great which makes it simple to just pull off and install in the toad. I bought a second power cord for the toad and hard wired it also.
All Garmin use the ball type mount but I believe the same company that made this mount also make them for other styles as well.

Let me guess. You probably actually read the directions that came with your dash cam. What a rebel.
