Question Dashboard gone wild

While driving I-80 through Nebraska (67 mph with MODE on) we heard a long beep while all of the gauges on the dash lit up, just like when the ignition key is turned to its first position. After a few seconds everything was back to normal. During this the coach continued moving down the road under power, and the generator continued running.

After the gauges went back to normal the engine light remained on.

Just a few miles before this incident, we traveled through a large thick dust cloud from a dirt road running along the side of I-80.

We have decided to make an appointment with Freightliner, but wanted to know if anyone else has experienced this phenomenon, or if anyone has any idea of what might going on.

We will appreciate any help.

Thank you.

You should run a diagnostic to see what code might be stored that’s related to that engine light.

With that information (the code), you can contact FL or Cummins and get more info.

Is this engine light yellow or red?

It happen to me two years and about 20,000-25,000 miles ago. Was on interstate and alarm went off and all my gauges went crazy for 2-3 seconds. Before I could see what was going on or understand what was going on, all alarms stop and gauges returned to normal. Brought it into Freightliner and they could not see any issues. Has not happen since. Hope this helps you, good luck.

Ours did it once last year, and again once so far this year. No warning lights remain on in our case.

Does your coach not have the LBCU dash display? That will display codes.

Check Engine Light Gone!

We took the coach into Freightliner, and after 7 hours they were able to diagnose and fix the problem. We weren't able to talk to the tech (end of the day I guess), but the counter person said it may have been a dirty electrical connection. They are going to mail us the workup sheet.

Whatever it was, it was covered under warranty.
