DC fail

My 12 volt system has gone down. The 110 works from plugging into my house but wont power lights, water pump, slide, etc. The outlets work and all 110 functions like steps work. Ive been trying to get my generator to pwer the air conditioning and been tightening screws in the Auto Transfer switch. Not sure if I disrupted someting or if a fuse blew. I have a 1999 Newmar dutch star. All breakers have been checked.

I’m not familiar with your coach but have you tried resetting the 12 volt with the “salesman switch”. It’s usually located by the door. If that doesn’t work check the main switches near the engine compartment. In my coach these switches disconnect all 12 volt power, but I’m not sure where yours are.

Sounds like it is in store mode. My 08 has a BIRD system, the disconnect relay is part of that. It is located behind the power cable reel, behind a plastic panel. If it has one and you can check both sides of the relay. There should be 12V on both sides. Do you know if you have 12 V at the inverter? If not, there is a large fuse in the line running from the house batteries to the inverter.

Someone here probably has a wiring diagram for your coach. Maybe they will post it???

Good suggestion. My relay (in the engine compartment) got weak and needed to be replaced. It would trip and I would have similar symptoms.

My 2000 Spartan has a fuse block in the lower left side of the inverter compartment. It is the one right in front of the battery compartment. That lower gray fused block has fuses rated at 70 amps. Might check those.

My 2001 alpine gets all of it's 12v power from the batteries. You need to verify your batteries are good first. If the batteries are good, check for power at the house fuse. If the house fuse is good, check the salesman switch. The diagram below for my camper shows that some items (refrigerator for one) do not go through the salesman switch. If yours is like that, then the batteries and the house fuse are your most likely possibilties.

Voltage reading should be between battery positive and battery negative.

This should be exactly the same as measuring between the inverter IN red and black.

A reading between black and good clean ground suggests that there is a poor connection between the battery ground and inverter connection where you are checking.

Dutch , does the gen set run ?

Transfer switch doesn't do anything with the 12 volt side of the coach .

You need to see if you've got 12 volt power in out of the coach battery disconnect relay , in the power cord bay .Yellow circle.

To me 13.1 volt at inverter positive indicates , charging system float mode.

Dutch ; steps are not a 120 volt function , they are 12 volt . BUT they get power from the 12 volt fuse panel in the dash , the same 12 volt power that starts the gen set , other 12 volt for the interior comes through the disconnect relay .
Your trying to get Air conditioning running from gen set , is the thermostat powered up ?

I have 13.0 when checking relay. I tested 2 house fuses that are both 0 and a step fuse that is also 13.0 they are just below the relay

The generator runs but I dont think it powers anything, definitely not the air conditioning. I replaced both breakers after speaking to a friend, might be the regulator or contral pad. When attempting to get the generator to work, the DC went dark, I need the DC to work as I can always find a place to plug in but I may need to use the generator at an overnight stop
