Dealer wants cash to place to factory order

Was talking to my sales guy the other day, and I mentioned that I wanted to order over taking one of his lot, and he told me that the owner (of the dealership) would require me to put down 20% to 40% up front to order one.

hmmmm

Our new DS should arrive at the dealer today. We only put down $5k good faith deposit to order. They will get the 20% down + the money from the bank after our PDI.

That's what I'm thinking sounds more like what should REALLy happen.

I wonder how a factory pickup changes things.

I think if broaden you search REAL big you may find what you want on a lot SOMEWHERE.

Don't be afraid to drive 600 miles to get what you want.

I'd let that dealer cool off a bit.

TOTALLY AGREE, well real close anyway... let's discuss further.

The ventana normally comes with 2 a/c units, but I want 3. Dealer says they can install one, but I hardly trust them with this type of addon.

Also, I would just loooovvee to take a factory delivery just for the sake of having done it once in my life. I know that sounds stupid but...

Although I am still considering taking one off the lot and letting someone install a third a/c.. but I'm also still considering a used high end coach, although they all seem to have some deal killer in the floorplan where as the ventana is really like.. the prefect layout and decor for us.

Excellent point! Determine exactly what you want, then search all the dealerships in the U. S.

OH and the other thing on the 15 ventana is they placed the def fill on the road side. However, I probably won't make a move til august or sept anyway, so it's possible some 15's will have hit the lots - but I feel the dealers will get highly motivated on 14's soon. I might could just live with the def on the curbside.

Perhaps adding a 3rd rooftop a/c unit is no big deal, yet with my limited knowledge, I would check with the factory first to ensure the existing electrical can handle it OR that the factory assures you that additional electrical CAN BE run to energize it. Would think this additional is "a big deal" and I would be inclined to only allow Newmar to do it at the factory. Would not want to chance an electrical fire due to incorrect / inadequate installation

Great point I'll phone them today. I know on the build sheet for 2015 it's listed as an option. Also wouldn't mind having the bigger genset.

IMHO the dealer really wants you to take the one on the lot. If you can get assurance that he can install the 3rd A/C correctly and you won't have generator capacity issues, etc, I'd go for it, otherwise I'd find another dealer. We ordered and put less than 2% down as a refundable deposit, though we did not choose factory delivery.

As far as factory delivery is concerned, if/when we buy Newmar again, we'd pay the extra for it. Having finally had major service done at the factory (sidewall replacement and much more) our experience is they still make mistakes, but make many less than the dealers we've been to and since most parts are at the factory can perform the repairs/mods much more quickly.
