Decided to sell our washer and dryer

We recently purchase a 2019 Dutch Star 4018 and need more storage. My wife tried the washer dryer with two loads and the drying takes over an hour per load. This was the first time they had been used so we fell storage is more important than a washer dryer. Where would be a good place to sell these items. Thanks so much. David

I would strongly suggest you reconsider the removal of the Washer Dryer. Yes, the hour to dry is excessive, but did you open the dryer vent? Also a little extra spin in the washer equals less dry time.

We have found the onboard Washer and dryer to be extremely useful. We can carry fewer changes of clothes for a trip as well as washing towels and linens. I recently took a three week trip with a friend without a washer and dryer and those smelly clothes get old after a couple of days in a smaller space.

As a side note my Daughter recently purchased an almost new combo unit for $200, so if that’s any indication of the price you “might” get I believe you will feel cheated.

Mistake in my opinion. Love our W/D! How much stuff do you guys travel with? Our motto is....if one new thing comes on, 1 old one needs to go.

Another mistake in my opinion.....unless you only travel for a week at a time. Put the clothes in to wash and forget about them.... much easier than finding a laundromat

Washer Dryer Removal

We traveled for 6 years without a W/D in our 41' Revolution. When in Florida for 4 months, I was the one charged with doing the wash. I think we had as much wash as we did in our house. I never could get it right when it came to getting things just the way she wanted them. I finally found a combo unit that was only used once as the owner never when on long trips. Now, even though it takes up storage space, we have more storage than before the W/D. We keep bringing less clothing on every trip we take. It's not perfect, but she does that laundry and it gets done just the way she likes it!

If you decide to sell, Craigs list the way to go.

IMHO I would definitely rethink that decision. When we bought our Dutch Star my wife didn’t want the dishwasher or the washing machine and dryer. We never had one in our other coach and always drug the clothes over to a laundromat. She decided to give it a try for awhile and, now she never wants to see a laundromat again. Also, loves the dishwasher. And, in today’s world, it’s much nicer not to have to be in a crowded laundromat wondering what was stuck in that machine before you used it or who has the virus?

I know you weren’t looking for opinions on selling but the W/D were requirements for me. An extra spin cycle helps with the long dry cycle and cleaning the lint after every load is mandatory. And it’s way easier for me than hunting around for a wash and dry. That said, CL or your local RV park would be good starts.

Is yours a stacked set or a combo unit. In either case, these are not like home units and cannot handle as large of a load and you have read and follow the instructions to the letter. We have been using our vented combo unit for well over 8 years of full time and would not be without the unit.

And yes it can take an hour or longer to dry depending on the materials and the load.

If it is a ventless drier, I would not have one. Get a vented unit.

Our Washer & Dryer are getting pretty old and we are thinking about removing them too. We are buying a smaller 5th wheel to use for summer travel. So, the coach will sit on our lot in FL a lot more than it used to. We have a casita with a full-size W/D so we don't need them in the coach. I'll put shelves in the W/D closet.... the DW will be very happy to have the extra space. I plan on leaving the dryer vent.... just in case.

When we bought our current MH in 2019 (lightly used 2018 Canyon Star), one of our requirements was to remove the W/D that as already installed. We have had units in two other MH's, and found them to be less than satisfactory. We don't full time, and usually have plenty of down days to handle laundry chores. The storage was much more important to us. Good luck with the sale.

That’s just nuts, don’t do it. Give it more time before making the decision. At the very least replace with a combo unit that will take even longer to do a load but you would gain storage.
15 years with a w/d in our coaches and can’t imagine being without.

Maybe get rid of the sofa bed and install a regular sofa with the large storage tray built into it.

Our first upgrade was going to be washer/dryer. My wife likes the hallway storage and at least for now she doesn't want to give up the storage.

I don't think there really is a place to sell and get anything close to what they are worth brand new. Try, FB, etc. If you're close to a consignment dealer than perhaps they would let you list them there as well.

p.s. Until this thread I never knew how great all these stackables and combos were......lol.
I guess all the people that think they're barely adequate wouldn't be trying to talk you into changing your mind.
