Question DEF Refractometer

I've been reading posts on DEF issues and check mine with a Refractometer prior to adding. I know there's multiple reasons these fail and just trying to do what I can to limit an issue.

My question is the reading should be 32.5, but I was wondering what level above or below is the point that starts indicating it's bad.

DEF Specifications I (Specification No. ISO 22241)

Urea 32.5 + 0.7 weight %

DEF Specifications | Blue Sky Diesel Exhaust Fluid

I found the third chart particularly interesting.

Just wondering, have you ever seen anything but 32.5? I got a refractometer maybe 4 years ago & I test every batch. I buy 2.5 gal @ WM, auto parts stores, etc. different brands etc. & I've never seen anything but 32.5. Me thinks the stories about bad/tampered with DEF might be a bit exaggerated.

Do you get yours at truck stops, or off the shelf Don?

I have been testing for years and have never seen anything but 32.5. Almost always at truck stops where i know they go thru thousands of gallons a day. Plus i feel stupid if i have to pay the ridiculous price of it by the "box" when its so readily available and convenient at any truck stop.

I always get 32.5 as well. I just got to thinking, what a would a "no-go" reading be.
So far, it looks like no one has ever had a reading other than 32.5.
Pretty interesting.

I'll bet the chances of the guy filling the tanks at the gas station putting gas into the diesel tank is much higher than getting bad DEF.
