2017 Newmar Ventana 3709. First Diesel! We will be traveling to Az from NW Iowa in January. Does the def tank have a heating coil in it? At what temp does def freeze? Also, at what temp do i need blended fuel? Ken

The tank has a heater and the fuel will be changed accordingly by the fuel stops. Unless you bought a summer blend and drove it to freezing temps and let it sit, you won't have an issue.

Put some How’s fuel treatment in before you leave and you won’t have any fuel issues.
The Def will be fine.
Take care

We will be leaving in mid Jan from Northern Iowa. The temps will be below 32 when we leave early in the morning. Currently have 1/2 tank of summer diesel. I store it inside a heated garage at 45 degrees. Should i add some power service additive to the first tank until i get farther south? Ken

Absolutely, add the Power Service Cetane Boost. We leave Minnesota in January for Florida and I use that product religiously. I put my coach in storage with a full tank and add the Power Service at that time. Additionally, I always add the Power Service Diesel 911 to the tank. I have found over many years that the Oasis and generator fuel filters will have fuel gelling problems when the engine fuel filters do not. I believe that all you can buy is some type of biodiesel so the amount added is different. Check the bottle for dosage. This stuff is great and approved by Cummins.
One year we couldn’t make the Florida trip. Having the Power Service in the tank when I took the coach back out above freezing does not harm anything. That’s right from the Power Service website.

Keep in mind, unlike a gas engine, our coaches send more fuel to the engine than it can use. The unused fuel is then sent back to the tank. This is constantly going on, so while driving, your fuel is being heated.

We live in California, so we only occasionally get into cold weather, but nothing lower than 25 degrees. With that said, I run an additive with EVERY fill up. I use Opti Lube. The purpose of the additive is to add cetane and boost lubricity. Studies have shown that fuel collected and tested around the country has occasionally come up short of the Government's lubricity standards. For the same reason, Cummins announced about two years ago that everyone should be using an additive. In their announcement, they suggest using their brand.
