Defect in fiberglass engine cover?

The Ventana is three weeks old. We washed it the first time today and found this:

It looks like some sort of body filler gave way underneath the paint. It's a fairly deep hole with raw fiberglass fibers visible.

I have photos when the coach was being built that shows body filler work done there and many other spots on the engine cover.

I emailed these photos to RVONE service this evening. I'll see what they have to say.

Well that's different.

I'm pretty sure they are going to fix it.

Bummer it happened though.

As I think I mentioned, I'm into classic and show cars, so yea, I've got all the nice stuff to wash a vehicle. Although I would have had to use a chisel to hack this piece out. :( It looks like there was nothing underneath the paint, just a gaping hole.

The curse of laying fiberglass. They spray the gel coat in the mold first, then spray in the fiberglass.

Sometimes air pockets get created. They run around pressing all the glass down, it looks like somebody missed a spot.

Newmarpusher, I would contact Newmar directly and not bother with the dealer. The warranty service will be far better and they will do the job right.
