Delivery Day!

Delivery day! OMG information overload. We are making a list of all the crap we heard and just flat didn't process. And a few things we found during the PDI like window seals that had shrunk (already fixed), bad light in the generator compartment (already fixed), receiver/sub setup that is hamfisted (tomorrow), and...that's about it. So far I'm damn impressed, EVERYTHING is working. Newmar builds a nice coach.

We are staying on the lot here at Independence RV in Winter Garden FL, probably for two nights while we get used to everything and give the systems a workout. They have told us we can stay as long as we need to, so a couple nights are no big deal. I have to say, Malcom (sales) and Justin (delivery) have been phenomenal, and Jody has made all the paperwork go very smoothly. Great experience so far, for a couple total newbies, and my lovely bride's anxiety is slowly coming back down to earth.

The plan is a couple nights here while we slowly figure things out, then heading to Tallahassee where we are delivering my wife's Mercedes to my brother's in-laws - we are selling the cars, prepping for fulltime. They all want to see the new coach. Then on to Thomasville GA for a couple nights, boondocking in Mom's back yard, who can't believe we are doing this. Finally back in Atlanta over the weekend, where we will park the coach for a couple weeks while we prep everything. Then we hit the road the week of 11/14...OMG that's quicker than I ever thought this would happen, but the house is already rented out and we have no choice. My birthday is 11/25, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Staying relatively local in the southeast for a while, because my daughter is scheduled to graduate from Parris Island in February. OO-RAH!!!

Pictures tomorrow (ok one bad nighttime inside shot), I flat didn't have time to take any because of the PDI and the fact I had to WORK for half the day. The good news is I was able to work just fine right from the coach, just like we planned. Hey there's something that worked! What a great day, never thought it would get here but it did...whew.

We're parked next to a new Mountain Aire, wow what a nice coach. I talked to the new owner for a few minutes, and he was really happy with it. Justin did his delivery right after ours. And wow what a huge coach. Our new Ventana feels pretty big, and it's dwarfed by the MA. We did get a piece of the MA - our door handle is a MA version, so we have the MA unlocking features. Nice!

Nice to hear everything went well! I just flew back tonight from being up at the factory for our build. We also ordered from Independence & live 20 min away which is even more comforting! Tough part is waiting 3-4 weeks for delivery now. Congrats again & enjoy!

My only recommendation is that if you ordered washer/dryer, run SEVERAL loads through. Our washer is either a slight problem, or it just doesn't like the way I shut the door and press the button :-). It works when it wants to :-)

Few thoughts we wish we knew when we accepted our DS 4018

Where is the hazard light switch?

Run the AC & heat pump a lot. We had to replace one AC at the factory pickup and one three months later.

Learn to back up the coach, practice a lot (we did and we were really glad we did)

Love our coach and love being on the road

Found the hazard right away, although it works kinda strange. Pull to activate, then use the turn signal to deactivate. Weird.

We are running both ACs a lot, and they are absolutely superb. The only caution we got from the PDI was to always make sure to turn them off before switching between shore/generator power, and then turn them back on.

Actually we have not backed it up yet. That's tomorrow and I'm sure it's going to be interesting. And I'm learning all about tail swing too.
