Diesel prices now over $5/Gal, what will be the limit
Flying J and most other stations have been shutting off diesel pump at $75 or $100. That's not many gallons at over $5/gal, when you are needing 50-75 gal. Has anyone run into any change in this shutoff amount without making 2 trips inside?
Hoping for trip in June and usually only have to re-insert credit card couple of times, but wondering about the above situation since I've never been able to exceed twice to reach 50-70 gal. Then either have to dig out my other card, or walk in to See Clerk.

Nope. Use truck lanes and pumps fill 80 gallons every time I try.

Just returned from a quick 1600 mile trip from Houston to New Mexico... I stay away from Loves, Flying J, Pilot because of the higher prices. A lot of the smaller stations I am still able to get into easily ( 43 foot Class A) and they are usually 30 cents a gallon cheaper.
On this trip I found a wide variety of dollar amounts at pumps. Mostly 125.00, 150.00 and at one place with a fast pump 200.00! This morning in Abilene it took three card swipes to get 72 gallons and I stopped with only a 3/4 full tank...
Some place I have also went inside and gave them the card and was able to bypass the multiple swipes... The look on their face when I say I need 450.00 dollars worth the look on my face is not so happy. One clerk even bought my coffee after spending 400.00

Last time I filled my rig, (in January) diesel was $3.65. Now it's $5.29. Gonna be hard to sit after THAT fill up.

Diesel prices now over $5/Gal, what will be the limit
We spent about 3 weeks in April from Carolina to Massachusetts. Northeast of DC diesel was about $5.50 or more everywhere. Started the trip with a tankful of last October’s diesel. Filled up before arriving for just a touch over $600.00.
Today in Massachusetts diesel is about $6.50.

When the Refinery's storage tank's are full, and the Refiner's in this country are made to not sell their finished product's to other country's and keep finished product's here in the USA .......the price will come down.
Refiner's will not cut charge if their storage tank's are getting near full capacity.......then the price would drop........supply and demand.......
A lot of Refinery's just went though spring shut down maintaince, thus no product's being made during these month's long turn around's. Storage level's are down, thus the rise in price.......to slow the American public......
Fuel at the T/A AT I79 & I80 WAS 6.20 , TSD card produced 80 cents a gallon of that, 5.40.....
Glad I am home for the summer!

I fill up at half a tank every time. That way I'm getting it for 1/2 price, well, it feels that way anyway.

One of the primary reasons I got a TSD card was to not have to go through the pump limit process and multiple cc swipes, etc. Yesterday, TSD prices in my area were mostly from the $4.90 to $5.10 range. A few were higher...up to $5.40.

Diesel prices now over
We are three weeks into our spring slow walk from SW FL to northern MI. Prices have gone up more than 30 cents a gallon in just that time. We have not experienced any early pump shut off issues so far. Most noticeable is the fewer number of trucks at our usual fuel stops close to the interstate. Obviously the truckers are shopping for and finding lower prices probably further away from the interstate. When I hear about the prices in CA, IL, NJ etc. I gotta wonder how much of that is tax vs. fuel costs. So far, GA & TN have held fairly steady around $5.50 or so a gallon.

If you like Flying J/Pilot why not get their fuel card and you can pay at the pump without going inside and there will be no limits.

Chase only authorizes $150 at the pump. Amex goes to $500. No idea if I can change those, I just know that they're there. I also don't like swiping many times and in the past have just let the Chase card stop the pump at $150. Depends on if I need more before I plan to fill again, and I seldom do.

https://www.pfleet.com/fuel-taxes-by-state
Fuel taxes by state. Some states a nearing $1 per gallon. More tax money generated per gallon than profits to the oil companies. I wonder what the correlation between tax rate and road conditions looks like. PA, IL, and OH have many poor roads and bridges, but have higher taxes than other states. Perhaps the diversion of the fuel taxes away from roads is part of the problem. Always nice to know when buying fuel, you’re funding railroads, schools, mental health grants, and bicycles:

In California, the "You Tax'em State", the price is $6.00 at Costco and $6.40 - $6.50 a gallon at other stations. We have another tax increase coming July 1st. The Governor floated the idea that he might suspend that tax, but conveniently said it was already in the process of implementation.
