DirecTV now.

Is anyone using the new directv now in their coach? I understand that it's way less than the regular satellite bill. It is a streaming service so it comes in thru the internet. I'm checking prices for the hot spot thru my cell service as well as data prices. I've also checked pricing on a cell booster. Don't mind the up front cost if it will save on the long haul.

Was involved in a thread the other day, Gentleman was using it on his laptop(Direct tv now) and was using the Mobley for internet/data. Use the Google search bar at the top of the page and look up Mobley........you will find a lot of reading on it and it is unlimited use........

There are an unlimited number of ways to stream TV from the internet, Directv is just keeping up with all the other cable providers to allow streaming on other devices like phones when you are not at home. The problem with all of them is you need an unlimited 4G plan , not one that drops to 3G after a set number of Gigabytes AND you need decent data service every where you go. Note that just because your phone works for voice service the data side my suck in some locations. Check out Roku, Amazon Fire Stick, Hulu also most of the networks offer streaming service.

I have used inDirecTV in my house for 6 weeks. HATE IT!!!!! resolution bad, buffering all the time, crapple TV needs to restart just about every day, poor programming choices, only 2 of the 4 major networks. I've cancelled. Incoming internet speed not the problem. Coming in at 45 to 60. No need to solve my problem...I've gone back to a satellite receiver.

We use the Mobley for internet, but as stated, if the data service (phone reception) is weak, you're not going to be able to stream data. For us, we have a satellite because most places we camp have weak to non existent internet and phone service.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm pretty sure I'll stay with what I already have, the traveler and directv. I can't see to much savings going with the directv now when you add it all up.

Howdy!

We’ve fulltime and have been using DirecTV Now since the first of the year without any problems. We have a unlimited data account with AT&T. They state using DTV Now does not go against your data plan so I see no reason they would throddle you. We also have a Unlimited MiFi plan with Verizon through FMCA which is great for only $49.99 a month. We only use Verizon when needed and so far we haven’t needed it. Yes we cut out DirecTV bill buy over a hundred dollars a month by switching to DTV Now. The other nice thing about it is I don’t have to worry with setting up our portable satellite, or worry about where we park and not be able to get a satellite connection. We’re starting to mosey towards Alaska now and I’ve been told it will work in Canada and Alaska with a data signal. Our last trip there we lost satellite just across the Canadian border. We do use a Maximum Signal booster that works great with our phone and data signal.

FWIW it's my understanding that DirecTV Now doesn't currently have a DVR capability. It is under development but I don't believe it has yet been implemented. For me that's a show stopper, since only some of the programming content is available as "on demand" and we rarely watch any TV programming in "real time."

AT&T owns DirecTV so they have no interest in making any product work against any of their other products. Unfortunately a lot of us have other plan providers who DO care how much data is used and will throttle us back after XXX number of GB of data usage.

There is no perfect solution for cell providers. Verizon has the best coverage map but even they fall short in many areas of the country. AT&T does not work well in the area of my hunting country so I stay with Verizon.

Learning to live without instant communications again would sure save us all a lot of money wouldn't it? LOL. It surely has become a different world and I got sucked up into it just like everyone else!
