Dish Network Wally Receiver

I have a new DS 2017 4369. When watching the outside TV, I cannot change channels on my older Dish receiver (211k?). Has anyone installed a Wally Receiver and does it work from outside the coach?

Same here, ours works flawlessly even with receiver for our outside TV being all the way in the bedroom. We have 2 Wallys & love them!

Same here, works the outside TV just fine. The RF remote is a huge improvement over the 211k and 211z (I have had both).

Allow me to display my ignorance, what is a Wally and why should I have one. Currently do have Dish in my coach.

Wally is the latest iteration of the 211 type of receivers. Screens are more like a full Hopper 3 or the Joey line of remotes. Major difference is that the remote control is wireless RF instead of infrared so you can keep the Wally in a cabinet with the door shut.

The solution to your problem is likely weak batteries. Put in fresh ones and you will likely solve your issue.

TallManTwo, there is a conversion kit to convert SWM3 Directv dishes to dishes compatible with Dish Network (SK-1000).

See my article for some details: Choosing and Installing Satellite TV

Dish Wally

We have a Wally and the radio frequency (RF) remote works great, inside and out. I also added a 2TB hard disk via one of the 2 USB ports and paid the 1 time $40 fee and have the poor man's DVR which works great.

Fsudelt I see you have 2 Wally's. I'm trying to replace my 2 211z's with Wally's. (The guide in the 211z's apparently has a software issue so previous local channels remain in the guide even though they cannot be viewed in a new location. I've reported the issue several times to Dish and no ETA from Dish regarding a fix.) Dish is giving me grief, telling me I can only have 1 Wally on my account. I have the Hopper / joey system in my S&B. So my question is how did you manage to get Dish to allow 2 Wally's? Any advice would be appreciated.

I bought both Wallys on Amazon and then just called Dish to add the receivers to my account. They never questioned me and they have worked flawlessly for the last six months. Obviously each time we move to a new location I call dish to get the new locals which then update in the program guide in about 10-15 minutes. Any further questions please let me know if I can help you.

fsudelt: Thanks for the timely response. I may spring for the second Wally. Just a bit concerned I'll have a Wally that they won't activate..
