Do you fold your rear ladder?

My Ventana has a rear ladder that hinges in the middle. You can easily pop the bottom supports out of the brackets but the lower section will not lie flat against the top section due to a curve just above the hinge. As it is I have to move my lower section to open the engine door because it touches the edge of the ladder. If it had been mounted a 1/4" to the left I wouldn't have to do this.
Some other coaches have a removable lower section which owners store in the basement until needed. The lower section on the Ventana is not removable. Does anyone else find this frustrating?

I was told..

I was told that the rear ladder is designed to ride "down" not up and you have to push it up for engine access.
I specifically asked at delivery, My Tiffen had the stow-able bottom section and I was having difficulty trying to figure out how to remove it.

When we were looking at the Ventana/LE coaches before ordering ours, we noticed that one of the units on the lot (Guaranty RV) had the ladder too close to open the rear grill. We made mention of this to the salesman and he stated the ladder was installed wrong and the dealer would correct it if the owner wanted. We ordered our unit, making mention of that issue to the rep. Our unit arrived with the ladder in the correct place, allowing opening of the engine grill. You might take the unit to your dealer for correction as its not right.

Moving the ladder now would mean patching holes which I don't really want. What I have done is drill out the hinge pin and removed the lower section completely. Now all I have to do is pop in a clevis pin and I can use the ladder again.
BTW. When I removed the top part of the hinge there was water inside the top section of the ladder. As there are only 2 small sheet metal screws holding the hinge on you may want to check they are not rusting. I have now put a drain hole in the bottom of that plastic piece.

Ladder seems secure when down

Thanks for the warning. I will check the ladder when I return home. I would hope Newmar used SS screws for any outside hardware.
