Do you use this basement fridge plug?
I have never used this plug for the basement fridge. I assumed (perhaps mistakenly) that the basement Dometic would run off of the house batteries if I wasn't plugged in or using the generator and that once I was on shore power or generator power the Domestic would use that power source.
For those with a similar setup, when and why do you plugin the basement Dometic?

Keep it plugged in all the time as it will run on 120v when on shore power or the generator is operating and switch to batteries when no 120v is present at outlet.

When boondocking with an all electric coach, obviously the inverter is on. Is it more efficient to run the fridge off the batteries or on the 120V plug getting power from the inverter?

We’ve always kept it plugged in all the time and use it as a refrigerator.
Now that we’re living in our NA full time; that unit is coming in handy as a freezer.

I have the same question as Mike. Also, would one method drain the batteries quicker?

My ac unit is not powered by inverter. This way it uses DC when not plugged into shore power, and ac when shore power is available.

Good point Red.
I'll check mine this weekend and report back, but I would assume we are the same setup as yours.
Cheers.

The outlet Newmar puts in the fridge bay in the basement is a non inverter outlet, due to the duel voltage operation of the fridge's, and they switch back and forth automatically.

I own a Newmar with a fridge in the basement. I hadn’t checked your post regarding inverted outlet. I am safe to assume that it will function with the gen running?

Yes, while on shore power or genset running the outlet has 120 vac for it to run on, when no 120 vac, outlet dead, it switches over to 12 vdc operation off the house batteries.
