Always a big help answering your questions if you put some information on your coach in your signature.

Docking Lights on Newmar Dutch Star
My docking lights will only come on when the switch is turned on, AND the coach transmission is in reverse.

Must be a Winnebago thing.
Mine are on with the Ign ON and the dash switch ON. I just replaced all of them with new LED Assemblies. Funny thing is, I never drive at night so RARELY do they get used.

Not just a Winnie thing. All the conventional Class A's we have shopped including the new Newmar's would disable any rear facing white lights unless the coach was parked or in reverse.
I asked about this exact thing at the Pomona RV show and was told that rear facing white lights are required to be disabled by law in many states unless used as backing assistance or as a stationary loading light - hence an RVIA rule - to prevent inadvertent blinding of other drivers while driving at night.
Safe travels

Thanks, interesting but my docking lights are on the sides. Two front and two rear where the dock should be if I were driving a ship. Hence the term Docking Lights I guess.
When they are turned on, they only illuminate the sides. Where the dock is.......
Now Back Up Lights, that's a different story.

Thanks, never called the side lights "docking" but that makes sense.
We have side facing halogen lights (both sides) and have always called them "Scare Lights" because they are too bright for normal use as patio lights (they can really upset the neighbors in a tight campground if left on too late) but really help when parking at night.

As posted by Bailiff, I turn on the Docking Light Switch and low and behold, the Docking Lights illuminate on all four corners without being in Reverse. Maybe mine is wired wrong.

Yes, the big round 8" lights are commonly referred to as "Scare Lights".
