Does our FWS need floor protectors?
Hi all, I was just reading some posts about floor protectors that go under the rollers on a full-width slide (we have a 2019 Dutch Star 4369). I've never heard of them until today. Do we need to get something under our rollers during travel? Thanks for your input!

The answer is NO. There were some model years that needed them, but not teh 2019 and on.

I have carefully watched the rollers on our 2020 DS 4081 several times. They never touch the tiles of the floor when going out or in.

The short answer is no. When Newmar went with the HWH hydraulic full wall slide the rollers on the lower inside lip of the slide kinda changed there purpose.
As explained by a Newmar Tech, the old designslide, when retracting the rollers acted as support for the FWS floor.
The new FWS design, the rollers don't typically touch the floor when retracting and are there to provide support to the floor edge when you walk on it when closed and as a back stop if there was a problem with the hydraulics.

I need to investigate this for my 2018 Ventana. I’ve got a stack of floor protectors in the wardrobe, but I’ve never used them. My sales associate didn’t mention them when we did the orientation on my coach.

Is your full wall slide hydraulic or using the older style electric motors and cog wheels?
Is your tile floor shiny?
If you have the older style electric slide mechanism, and you have the highly polished tile, you will definitely see wear spots on the floor when you look at an angle into the glare. The rollers invariably pickup dirt and grit, and will wear some of the shine off as they come in and out…..also when driving the slides move a tiny amount as the coach goes over bumps, etc, and will wear that way too.
If you see this wear, you will want to put down the pads prior to retracting they slide. We have found taping them down with blue painters tape helpful, to keep them from shifting as the rollers start to come in.

I’m still learning about my coach, but I believe it has the older electric slide mechanism. And yes, I have the polished porcelain floor tiles. I appreciate your comments.

Ventanas do not have hydraulic slides, so your slide out goes up and down the ramp on rollers. So floor protectors would be helpful

Thanks, all, it didn't look like the rollers were touching anything but I wanted to confirm with the experts.
