Does Ventana come with a range hood/vent?

I asked this in the thread about venting the microwave/advantium, but nobody responded, so I'm going a separate thread.

One of the many things I forgot to look at on my multiple trips (Arkansas, Missouri, Memphis and Fort Meyers, FL) to view Ventanas was whether there is a vent over the range to exhaust heat/humidity/smells.

My Thor has one and my wife really wants one. On my specials list, I plan to get a quote for the Advantium and venting that outside, but what about venting cooking on the range?

Our 2014 Ventana LE does not have a direct vent from the microwave/hood to the outside, but it does have a powered vent fan just above the cooking area. We find that it does an excellent job of removing cooking odors; especially if you open the kitchen window just a little.

One consideration for an external vent is wind noise from it when going down the road. Some have commented on the noise of a flapping vent door. It is likely to high up on the sidewall to use a manual locking tab to secure it.

Yea, I read those in the discussions about venting the microwave and am concerned about that. I think at least one said Newmar fixed it wish some weighted or padded tape.

Right now, I probably couldn't hear a sound like that over the wind noise and screaming V10 between the wife and I, but I'm hoping for a much quieter experience in my Ventana.

You will, indeed, enjoy the Ventana. Ours drives great, is quiet and comfortable to travel in. We're moving up to a 2018 Mountain Aire because...well, just because!

tnedator - our 2017 VTLE does not have an external vent but does have a power range fan built in to the microwave/convection oven. We looked at a number of Ventana's and Ventana LE's in our search and I don't believe I saw any with an external vent.

I second Tranquil Jim's statement that the power vent does a good job of moving the steam and smells; of course, they're still inside the RV. I'd also point out that *most* if not all floorplans have a power vent in the ceiling immediately above the range/cooktop. We got the upgraded Fantastic Fan as an option and we just need to touch the top button on the control on the wall, which is directly behind you when you're cooking. The fan starts at full (100%) power which sucks anything out; you can reduce the speed with the controls so it's not so loud.

We've also learned the hard way to remove the battery from the smoke detector when you're cooking, just put it back in when you're finished!

Cooktop vent

We have a 2016 Ventana with the standard vent hood (a filter with no outside vent) but I recall other buyers getting a "special" approved by Newmar for a different Microwave (GE, I think) that had an external vent. If you are buying new I would ask your dealer to contact Newmar to see if this is still possible or you could try contacting Michelle Howard at Newmar Corporate.

What does the fantastic fan give you over the stock one? I've got a list of specials, but don't have this currently on my list.

I was astounded when I found that our DS did not have an external vent.
I just assumed ( you know what that means) it would have one as all our other MH's had them as standard issue. We do have the power vent, but to me , that just a compromise over having a proper vent over the range.

The Fantastic may be standard; it was in my 2016.

I have also found the range vent to be sufficient with indoor venting. It has replaceable charcoal filters for odor removal.

Hmmm, now I'm not sure which way to go. On the one hand dispelling heat and odor would be nice (although sounds like charcoal filter is pretty functional), but the idea of the noise isn't great and with the invasions of Asian lady beetles getting worse and worse every year around here, the fewer entry points into the coach the better.

These fans are one of our regrets as options. We paid extra for the Fantastic Fans with rain sensor, but then we immediately installed vent covers on the roof making the rain sensor irrelevant. Not only irrelevant but annoying, as the rain sensor is set off by high humidity. That means if you take a shower with the fan going to exhaust the moisture, at some point (usually when you open the shower door and reach for a towel) the steam triggers the sensor and the fan shuts off. And there you are in a steamy bathroom trying to override your expensive fan...

You can override the rain sensor, but then why did we pay extra for them?

To the OP's original question, the advantage would be that they start up at full-blast with the touch of one button, so if you're producing some smoke in the kitchen you can get rid of it very quickly. Once the smoke has cleared you can adjust the fan lower using the key pad. I'm not sure what Newmar uses as the "stock one" so not sure if the controls are as easy to use.

Does Newmar use the remote control Fan-tastic vents in the Ventana? I replaced the cheap vents with a small fan in the corner with the Fan-tastic remote control 14 speed vents ($235 ea in 2012 at Amazon) and love them. I put covers on them and when there is a severe cloud burst the rain sensor closes the cover due to the splashing water getting under the openings under the covers.

The best feature is that I set the temp for full speed (80 degrees) and the fan starts at low speed and speeds up during the day and then slows down after sundown and stops it it cools off enough overnight. It repeats every day. If overnight temp is mid-30s I will close the vents at bed time or earlier. Otherwise, it is a nice set it and forget it venting operation.

Fantastic vent works amazingly, you can special order a vent, but bare in mind that it s painted and may distract from the clean lines of your paint job.
