Dometic 8700 - No Water - Repair Summary

Our Dometic 8700 macerator toilet had no water flow. This was intermittent, sometimes water, sometimes no water. After speaking with the Dometic reps, I thought it was the controller. Seeking a replacement controller, I called ARDEMCO in California. After speaking with James, he convinced me it was not the controller but, instead, the water valve. James said the controllers rarely go bad and the water valve is a common problem. It was Friday afternoon so I ordered a water valve, part No. 385311545. The cost was $112 and with overnight shipping I received the part on Saturday and installed that afternoon.

James was right, it was a failed water valve. That is good since the new controller costs almost $500.

I have attached a photo of the failed water valve and another photo of its location behind the toilet.

ARDEMCO has competitive prices and good tech support.

Been there done that, ours went bad during a trip In early September, not a difficult repair thanks to the emergency exit door.

I keep a spare valve and since I had a hose break at the plastic elbow, I carry an extra hose, they are both sometimes difficult to source. It’s not a huge issue if you have the half bath.

I had the valve not completely close and would slowly leak water into the bowl! Changed and all has been good.
