We are currently at Lake Havasu in Arizona with temps hitting the high 90s.
The front Dometic AC seems to be working very poorly and can't even begin to cool down the coach. We only have 30 amp service and can't seem to run both units at the same time, but even just running the front unit,performance is lousy.
Is anybody else out there experiencing the same issue? By the way, the AC only rear unit cools like a champ.

What size is the A/C, 13,500 or 15,000 Btu? Makes a lot of difference. Check the temp at the return and at the outlet and see what kind of differential you have. It is hard to cool a large RV with a 13,500 Btu unit when it is 90d. Outside.

30 amp you can run 1 AC not two if you need two run GEN for 50 amp.
Run the Gen to see if you have improved cooling out of front AC you may have a low power problem in campground.
You have thermistart programmed for cooling.

I've run both 13.5 heat pumps off a 30 amp circuit, but you do have to watch the loads when doing it.
I've also found that in Yuma in 90° temps we could do just fine with 1 heat pump. We have the dual pane windows and the optional (in 2002) roof insulation package.

Thanks all.
It is a 15000 BTU unit. We tried running the generator and it makes a huge difference, not only in the coolness but also in the amount of air flow. There might be something about the lower power in this campground, it's full and everyone is running their ACs.

Hi hookup,
The low power, and does the coach face west make a huge difference. If you do have low power, the heat pump is really taking a beating. You may want to consider a voltage regulator to help save the high wattage appliances. Go to 50 Amp RV Voltage Regulator - Technology Research Corp 10175 - Surge Protectors - Camping World to see the voltage regulator I have.
