Dometic Awning poly cord too short!

Just fixed my awning fabric That fits into a channel coming from another channel that is screwed into the roof of the coach.

So this past year while traveling, we noticed the awnings covering our patio and windows Where they attach to the coach on the roof, were out from their respective grooves. It appeared that the cord was either 6-8” too short or somehow it broke off causing the awning to come partially out of the groove. I’ll attach pics. One shows the awning fabric out of the channel and the other show the new poly cord going into the channel/groove.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue of the last inches of the awning not having the poly cord? In addition, I called up Dometic, gave them the numbers off the awning, told them what happened and the lady said it was 1/4 “ cord. I said it wasn’t that wide that it was probably 3/16. She argued with me, said this is the cord and that I can order it on amazon, which I did for much less than what they would have charged me.

The cord I received was too big in diameter so I had to grind it down so it went into the channel..3/16...I was correct. The 1/4 cord is used to connect the awning to the actual screwed in channel on the coach holding the cover.

Anyways, just wanted to share as I find this forum useful ..most of the time. Thanks.
