Dometic basement freezer
Hi all
My basement freezer is acting up.
If it is plugged into 110 and 12v the display lights up but it will not cool.
As soon as I unplug the 110v, the unit starts to cool with excellent performance.
Should I just leave it run on 12v and forget about it or is there a simple fix?
Thanks for the input.

Have you confirmed that your 120 to 12 volt converter is actually putting out 12 volts? If the voltage is low that may be the problem.

Why not just leave it on 120v?

Some models have a fuse integrated with the AC plug input, check your manual.

Have you checked the 120v breaker to see if it is popped? Mine does that sometimes, and a reset brings back the 120v cooling.

Have you checked the voltage with a meter (120v recpt)? If you don't have a meter, plug something else in and see if it works. You didn't say what happens when connected to 120v only.

thanks for all the tips!
Double checked the 110V plug for power. Used a toaster. It has power.
When I unplug the 12V supply and only have on 110V it will not even power up the screen.
I checked the fuse on the Dometic right by where the 110V plugs in and it appears to be functional. I will go get another one just to be sure(i was going to tinfoil it but dont want to cook the entire thing).

I have the CFX3 and when I installed it i called Dometic and they said not to have both 120v and 12v hooked up at the same time.
it will burn out the board. Not sure what model you have but mine I wired it directly to a 12volt supply.

Sometimes the 110v cord on the dometic can work its way out a little bit from the drawer being pulled in and out. Might want to check to see if its seated all the way into the fridge.

Odd why mine quits working as soon as I plug the 110v into it. Lights come on but it will not cool.
As soon as I unplug the 110 plug, it starts to cool.
On 110 only it won’t even light up.
Maybe the internal inverter is fried?
Weird.

Is it a model that you can connect your phone to it? if so see if you can access the functions through that while connected to 110 to see if there is something off through that.
