Dometic basement fridge CF 80

My Dometic CF 80 freezer/fridge has stopped operating on 120VAC , but operates fine on 12VDC when the 120v cord is unplugged. It has to be unplugged from the 120VAC outlet before the 12VDC power the unit up and cool..........
Thinking there is a problem with a circuit board, where ever it is located.......
Has anyone ever had this problem with their basement fridge?

I tried to do a search on your issue, because I read something on a Forum related to your problem. (I came up empty) What I remember is that in earlier model CF-80's, found in the small print, is that you cannot have the unit plugged into both power sources at the same time. If that's done, the circuit board will be damaged. You need to pick a source manually, it does not swap automatically. I was lucky on mine, in that my Dutchstar's 120V plug is only live with Shore or Generator power and no damage immediately. I ran a new duplex receptacle off of the inverter circuit and leave the refrigerator plugged into that. In my experience, again mine, Dometic isn't very helpful. I guess leave it powered by 12V and call it a day.( I am sure you are aware that 120V receptacle is not inverter powered??)

Thank you! Mine is in a 2012 Essex and the 120vac outlet is on the inverter, shore power and generator power. It has worked and operated very well till now, I did get it to run when plugged into the 120v outlet, but after reaching the set point, it will not restart while plugged in, unplug it and it cools and works well.
I have spent day's searching for diagram's and if there is a main control board that would be the problem, not coming up with anything to point me in the right direction.
I like to repair/fix everything so it operates as designed.........but so far this is a challenge

I have the same issue. Below is a thread that discussed it.
We ended up just leaving it on 12V and it works fine.

However, if you figure out the control board(or whatever is shorted), let us know! It would be nice to be able to take this unit into the car while traveling and plug into the 110V outlet in the car!

redram99 has the info I could not find. There is a fuse next to the AC plug, and the control circuit is between the handle accessible by removing two screws. I am with you. I want things to operate the way they should! Bad thermistor? Call Dometic?

Update: The new board installed, unit plugged into 120v outlet and had been operating great for a day now and holding set temp.

Great news! Just don't leave the 12VDC and 120VAC both plugged in at the same time. The "recall" for these was to simply send owners a sticker to affix to the unit that basically says "Don't have both power options plugged in at the same time."

Best,
-Mark

Any recent update on operation? Mine has gone south this week and have a new board on order.
