Dometic Duo Therm Temp Sensor - Reads surface temperature versus air temperature

one of the Dometic temp sensors is mounted under one of the cabinets on our full wall slide.. This temp sensor seems to be reading surface temperature versus air temperature. verified this using a stand alone thermometer right alot side of where its mounted as well as measured the surface temperature with an IR thermometer.

any ideas on how to remount this thing so it reads more accurately?

The sensors can be problematic for any aged coach. If the sensor reads the surface, then it can react to fast or too slow. If it reads the air, then it can react too fast or too slow. tough situation.

I have had some success encasing the sensor tip into a foam sponge. The sensor is insulated from both the air and the surface.

This can produce a situation where the sensor does not react too fast or too slow.

Thanks.. was thinking about making a different case to put the sensor in so its more insulated from the wood surface... the foam may be an easy fix.. will try that and see what happens...

Start by unscrewing the sensor and pulling it outward just enough to be in free air. If this solves your problem, cut a piece of foam as a spacer and remount. Longer screws may be required.
