Unhappy Dometic Heat Pump won't start

I am in the process of changing out my 2001 vintage Dometic Brisk Airs for new Penguin II's. The rear unit appears to be working fine, but the front is acting very strangely. It is making a loud clicking noise and trying to cycle on, but can only come up for a couple of seconds. The rear unit has been dip switched to Zone 2 and it is recognized at the CCC 2 thermostat, but not the front unit. I tried resetting the thermostat a couple of times, but same results. I have checked the voltage. I have 120 AC on the power feeds and checked the control board where there is 120 as well. The DC leads have the correct polarity and they show 11.8 volts DC. The front unit is trying to run even though the thermostat is set to OFF.

Defective unit or defective installer? any help greatly appreciated!

Hi LewTippett,
Consider taking the rear unit out of the "loop". Get the front unit working. Then connect the rear unit, make the appropriate changes in the configuration and see how it goes. The rear unit is usually the problem. The front unit is in command and by itself you should be able to get it to run correctly.
