Door grab handle problem

My door grab handle apparently swelled up over the Texas summer heat and doesn’t sit properly in the lower bracket.

I took the lower part off today to try to push it back in but it won’t budge. I am assuming it will need to be replaced.

Thoughts? This happen to anyone else? Easy swap?

I can’t find anything in Newgle and threads here are mostly older coaches with light issues.

Thanks for the links.

Update-

I took it apart and the bottom is filled with white powdery gunk which I think is the lower spongy part of the handle. I scraped what I could but am afraid there are contacts or something under the gunk that I can’t see. It looks like a tiny wire in the center part. It fits better but still not flush.

Advice? Scrape it more?

I have an Essex and had to replace handle. Found one at Amazon. Doesn’t say Newmar or Essex but it’s nice.

Keep scraping. I had the exact same issue. Cleaned it out and it fits snug now!

Had the same problem on our Dutch Star. Kept scraping until it fits correctly. When reassembling the handle, be sure to seal it well with clear silicon to keep water out of that area. I think the powder is oxidized aluminum and the old sealant.
