The MRC50 is able to be programmed for the lithium batteries. There isn’t a lithium setting. BattleBorn has a recommendation for the MRC50 in their materials. You set it up to bulk charge at 125 amps. You can go lower, but it will take longer to achieve 100% SOC. One thing that I have found with this setup, if you are using the batteries while driving and you are in a hot climate area. It’s best to kick on the generator about an hour out of your destination. This allows the batteries to be charged before you stop. With the high amp charge rate it can create a high load when hooked to 50amp and running both AC’s. I usually kick the generator on anyways to cool down the coach prior to stopping. When I fire it up I only turn the front AC on for the first 30 min, then the rear. Haven’t had an issue since.

PaulT I'm not sure about the MRC50 but if you change to the ARC50 control panel you can use the CC/CV charge settings which are a better fit for lithium batteries. Changing to the ARC50 is an easy swap if necessary. I used this video for my lithium settings. If you fast forward to the six minute mark it saves some boring talking. LOL I have 824AH of lithium installed, it wasn't cheap but I feel it was well worth the money.

They will take 130amps during charging to bring back 100% SOC. Just the 2 batteries ran the refrigerator for 30 hrs and the batteries were still at 40% SOC. That test did not include lights, tv, radio, Oasis running. We do occasionally boondock, but not for more than 2-3 days. However, since we live in Florida, our coach is our backup home after a hurricane. We lived in our BayStar for 2 weeks after Irma. (Electricity was out for 2 weeks) To go totally off grid you would need 1200 watts of solar panels or more. And maybe 2000 total amp hrs of lithium storage. With that set up you could even run an AC unit and still not need the generator for a few days. In that instance you are at the mercy of needing sunny days.

We are in process of sourcing solar panels and hardware.
Local craigslist man sells 440Watts panels( 7foot x 3 1/2 foot size).
Thinking 4-5 panels on our roof.
But ,,, projected winter power takeout about 3 hours here in washington nowadays , and that translates into 5.2Kw-6.5Kw of takeout energy , or 350-450AH of battery charge at 14volts per day.
Not much for older propane most appliances motorhome.
And forget for all electric rig.

This MH just wouldn't fit in most of the dry campsites in SP and USFS campgrounds I camp in.

Hi David.
I guess you have not heard of the RG geeks?
They spend a lot of time boondocking and have several videos on how-to and what-not-to.

You must have a lot bigger rig than we do only had room for 3 and its 42 ft, but I like to walk on mine.

Oh, no.
Good point. Will check on it before purchase then. Cause quick measurement seems sufficient for 4 at least.
Will make cardboard forms and place them on roof to actually see how it will play out.
Thanks for pointing out.

All the information you gain on this site will point you in the right direction but there is nothing like going through the process yourself. This is my first coach with AGS and I love it. Never had it before and I always had to remember and plan out enough generator run time to keep batteries charged. I put an 800 watt solar system on our last coach and do not plan to on this one. I will spend the money on a Lithium battery upgrade instead. If I dry camped all winter in AZ like some do, solar makes sense-maybe. If you like peace and quiet, that is a great reason for solar too but you will still need to run your generator. Bottom line is, these diesel generators need to run and they will probably outlive everything else on the coach. Make sure you read DS Don's old thread regarding the oasis. A few things have changed since then but most still applies. You can do everything else right but have little heat or hot water if you don't understand how the oasis system functions.

Thanks for all the input and help - it looks like we have the same coach and I am wondering if you us the AGS - auto generator start and where you have your low voltage threshold and how long you run you generator for? We are about to set off on a longer adventure and bounce around in CA and AZ. We salmon fish in Oregon and that is really where we dry camp the most - again thanks for the help!

We typically run the generator for 2.5hrs in the morning and 3hrs in the evening. No problems boondocking with a DS. Have yet to experience the auto gen start.

This all electric thing is new for us since we bought ours 2 years ago and just want to fully use our coach. Tailgating at concerts for a weekend is great fun but it’s definitely a dry camping environment and I’m learning so that I’m not bugging my neighbors with my genie running at night, if possible.

Hey there…. Would encourage you to learn and use your AGS system. At an unexpected moment when power is lost and you’re not there, you’ll come back to a very dead coach, ruined food and God forbid you travel with a pet…. Awful.
Of course, many learn the hard way. Ours was plugged to power on our private land away from home but there was a power outage. Thankfully only the coach was dead but it was so dead a car charge wasn’t enough… both chassis and house were dead and we ended up having damage to some of the batteries.
AGS is there for a reason… check it out. You’ll be grateful later
