Where does one find tow capability info for 38' DS w/300 hp Cummins? Thanks.

You should find a label on the wall behind drivers seat. The label may be in the closet. You will find weight ratings for front and rear axles with recommended tire size. You will also find GVWR. This is the max your rv can weigh with all cargo and people. Then you will find GCVW. This is the max your rig can weigh including any towed. Just subtract GVWR from GCVW to find how much weight your rv can tow.

Ours has a 6,000# hitch, Spartan says all I have to do is change the hitch to a 10,000# unit if I need more capacity. This was in 2004 when I was at the Spartan factory and the rig was on their chassis platform having the front axle replaced. I assume they know what they're saying.

It looks like the towing maximum is 5K lbs. Go to Newmar Resource Center | Brochures and find the brochure for your model. Both Freightliner and Spartan have 5K (GCWR-GVWR).
