Dual Satellite Setup

Have both the Winegard Traveler and the KVH dome, operated with an A/B switch. We've been using the Traveler while parked here in FL, but would like to switch to the KVH while heading back to Texas. But for some reason I can't get it to work....I get the error code on DTV, saying it sees no antenna. Yet the Winegard says "tracking 101/110". I believe that means it's locked on the satellite. Have I forgotten something?

Did you change the type of antenna in the Directv setup?

Was KVH working when you came in before switching to Traveler? Could the A/B switch be bad? Can you hear the KVH trying to track the satellite and it has a clear view? And what ^ he said. I know I have to pull the fuse on mine when going to my other antenna as KVH will look for ever to find satellite and then finally 'time out'. Do you have 2 receivers and switches? If so, could other receiver be the one KVH is looking to for power to start the process?
You said FL and how bad is it raining and or cloud cover? Let us know and safe travels.

May need to change what the signal TV is looking for if it is a flat screen/computer TV. Or which LNBF it is looking for.

Well, Doug, I looked for an antenna setting in the DTV menu, but didn't seem to find anything. From memory, I don't remember having to do this before, but may be wrong! :-).

Hi slabman,
Can you hear the KVH trying to find the SAT?

The techs at DTV are really helpful. They've walked me through the menu setup in the past. 800-531-5000.

Gary, no. The unit seems to have found the satellite. The DTV box just doesn't seem to know where it is or how to process it.

Switching between Satellite dishes

This problem begs the question-why would you want or need two different Satellite dishes??

Based on your reply, consider taking the A/B switch out of the circuit and see what happens. The KVH seems to be operating correctly. The problem may be between the dome and the receiver(s). Get one TV working then progress to getting both TVs working.

Good thought, Gary. With the other side working, I wouldn't have thought of that. Soon as I get back to FL I'll give it a try.
