Dutch-n-Bean say adios to carpet
After 5 years of fulltime use the carpet was, shall we say, nasty. These pics actually make the carpet look decent, but up close it was terrible.

We decided to remove the tile laminate flooring in both the entry and the kitchen. This proved difficult since the flooring was glued down prior to the dash and slide being installed. After much sweating and bloody knuckles, the flooring was finally removed.

Hey, just roll out some rubber mats and you can drive the "bean" right into the living room.

After much debate and many samples later we decided to go with engineered wood flooring. The final decision being based on durability and appearance, especially with the pooches. We went with Earthwerks Brookstone Autumn Hickory in 4", 5" and 6" widths. This is a 3/8ths engineered hardwood floor and was applied with a full glue down application with a urethane based adhesive. We wanted no carpet in main area even on the flat floor slide. Everyone of the big companies said that we would have to keep carpet on the slide. The installer we chose said that he would be able to install wood flooring on the slide - no problem.
We started with the entry first and then ran a few rows down the center. I'm guessing that Fig approves of our choice of flooring.

Finally, the floor done including the slide. Now with the furniture back in place it looks like home again.

LOL, JMonroe. I do believe Bean would fit inside, but I would have to have a bigger entry door.

We actually worked with an installer who let us do a lot of the demo ourselves and then we helped him with the finished floor.

Thanks for posting those pictures so those of us who are contemplating doing the same can 'visualize' those steps.
Your choice looks fantastic. You said it took almost two weeks, just curious how many hours a day?
