Dutch Star Dust shield
Hi everyone,
A new to me 2014 Dutch Star 4364 has its own private Operation Desert Storm going on with the side radiator fan problem. Neither Freightliner or FinditParts have access to the parts needed to remedy this. Does anyone know of a source able to get suitable parts to effect a remedy please? Thank you

You would need to contact any Freightliner Dealer with your VIN# and have them reference Service Solution 1023246 to get parts pricing & availability answers. Net of it is the following core pieces:
05-33096-000 shield
05-33097-000 bracket
05-33098-000 bracket
05-33099-000 flange
or available as a complete kit as A05-33448-000
I contacted Freightliner corporate when the local dealer said the parts weren't available. Corporate said they were available.... that was back in October, so things might have changed.

Easy to build your own. Search this forum on how to make it happen.

I made my own from aluminum purchased at Home Depot. It can be built for under $50.00.
On another note, when you turn your dash A/C on, it turns your engine fan on HIGH. When entering a campground with dirt roads, turn the A/C off. With the dust shield and A/C off, you'll hardly make any dust.

Just to let readers know..... this issue was resolved; at least with our rig, due to the plate already being added.

In 2014, the discussion started about the dust storm. Many of us made our own. All you need to do is attach to the bottom of the fan shroud and make sure the pan is at or above the frame rail so the air can't blow under the frame rail. When it does, it blows to the other side and kicks up dust under the passenger frame rail.
After seeing everyone making their own, Freightliner began making and selling a retro kit. In 2019, it became standard equipment. Their kit is excessively biog and heavy.
The secret to a simple build is make it so the supports have bolts welded on, so when you put the shield in place, which makes getting to the supports impossible, you simply add nuts and washers to hold it in place.
There are several old threads about it, especially around 2014 - 2015.

Hi Don,
Fantastic detail in your reply, thank you. I have received a shield, made by FREIGHTLINER and I found it at FinditParts.com who were brilliant to deal with. Brackets were on back order so we are having some made, but your comments will be put to good use. Many thanks
