Dutch Star Entry Lights

The entry lights no longer come on when the door is open. Checked the LED lights and neither is getting current. Customer service thought that the brass contacts on the door jam were dirty but that was not the case. On the door casement there are four brass contacts, two of which are extended and two that are retracted. Is that the correct position for them?
Recently had the unit serviced and the recall for the cargo latch defect (low voltage might cause a fire) was done. Any thought that this "fix" caused the loss of the entry lights?

"rg Neumann"....Your cargo latch repair is most likely related. When I had my latch recall done, I pulled the Trimark unit out from under the dash so the repair guy could easily add the new plug. He did it at my house. When done, he said they typically pull the dash panel and access the Trimark unit form the top. I had already worked on it for other reasons and found that it was easier from the bottom.

The KIB unit (small black box) that operates those entry lights is behind the dash. Two weeks ago I went in and added a switch to the unit so I could turn off those entry lights when I didn't want them to come on at night.

I know this is a long explanation, but it explains why they are probably connected. As the tech reached in to access the Trimark unit for the latch repair (which typically sits under the KIB unit), he most likely pulled a wire off. It should be pretty obvious that a wire has been pulled off.

If you go back a page or so on posts, there is a post about putting a switch on those lights. In the post, "lostinfla" added a drawing of what wires attach where on that KIB unit.

Here ya go... Not my drawing, but from Newmar. I think they caught an engineer when he was on lunch and this is his napkin.

Don, thanks for your analysis of the potential cause and remedy to the problem. When you mentioned getting to the KIB panel from the bottom of the dash, what panel to do you remove? It appears that removing the "glove box" beneath the AC controls might be a method, but did you use a different approach?

You actually remove the dash, six screws. Pull it out and look down behind it. The KIB box should be right on top. The schematic that "lostinfla" supplied above will help you identify the box by the wires. It also says KIB on the box.
