Unhappy Dutch Star fire in Indiana

BREAKING NEWS: Motor Home Fire On SR 15 | InkFreeNews

Feeling awful for this guy. Everyone was safe but the DS's a goner.

Shucks. Looks like somebody's new DS won't be delivered by Christmas.

Plate on the back looks a vehicle in-transit plate.

Bet the propane was not turned off. How many owners do a monthly fire safety check?

Looks to me like it originated by the rear axle and a good quantity of fuel or oil ran out on the grass. Otherwise the burn would have traveled more in the direction of the wind. Tragic, but if it was a new one being delivered, better now than later.

Yet another selling point for all electric, if true.

Every time I watch an RV fire I think how scary fast they burn. What materials make them burn that way??

Is the propane tank in that part of the DS? I'm not sure it's propane but I can't think of what else it might be other than electrical.

The mere fact of the propane valve being on would not cause a fire or explosion. Thousands of RVs travel every day with propane operating. There would have to have been some additional fault or defect, if propane was in fact the cause.

Speculation accomplishes nothing. Smart move is to wait for the facts.

X2...seems everyone that doesn't agree with using the propane while operating a MH goes right to that when the facts aren't even know. If like mentioned earlier this was a MH being delivered, propane was most likely not an issue, and better that this happened on the delivery drive, rather than after the delivery.

Wouldn't be surprised if this has to do with the Emissions, it's been happening with the Big Trucks including the terrible accident in Northern California with the FedEx Truck that killed all those kids.
