Dutch Star Front TV Access

Does anyone know how to access the connections on the front (windshield) TV?

Thanx

There are two vents attached to the back. They're both held on with silicone and one or two brad nails to hold them in place. You have to carefully pry them off. The one closest to driver has most of the connections behind, probably the only one you need to remove.

When I replaced the vent, I added hinges and keep it closed with Velcro so I can easily access the back, as I like to use headphones when my wife goes to bed.

Thank You so much for that info. I was trying that as could see no nails or screws but until you verified I had given up. I did get them off but on mine they used a full bead all the way around. Nav works well on big screen.

That way it will be much larger for the copilot to tell me when I missed the exit.

If you want to do it use the video input adapter that came in the Sony TV packet. It has red, green, blue RCA ends. Use the green to plug the yellow from the Xcite output. It give much better video quality than just using yellow direct to TV.

You also have to unplug the ignition shutoff for the 110 receptacle. It is a small plug in the side of the junction box that feeds the TV receptacle with 2 yellow wires.

Did you remove the side interior windshield trim to run those cables?? Or a different way? Did you lose the video on your dash monitor with the front TV enabled?? I wonder if there is a simple way to add a secondary monitor for the passenger using those cables??

Yes I removed the plastic cover on the A pillar on the passenger side. It does not affect the screen on the Xcite. Used a 15' cable. ($8 Amazon)
The output is just a Composite connection. Red,White,Yellow. So you could easily hook any kind of monitor to it that has those inputs.

Hi Fred,

You do not loose the Xite screen video. I mounted a 10" monitor below the TV for my DW which works great. One benefit is that it will continue to show the 360 camera images even if I change the Xite screen to another display option.

This may be a dumb question but what do you use the 360 camera for? The one I bought came with the 360 and I have not found a use for it.

For new drivers the overhead view is useful for positioning in the lane while they are getting used to the different view from the drivers positron as compared to a car, but are not really tuned to the mirrors yet.

When backing into a really tight spot I appreciate the overhead view as well. Like when backing between posts on the side of a driveway.

Use the 360 camera when parking and driving in tight Campground conditions. Not really sure of value while driving down the road.
