Hi everyone,

We are looking at purchasing a 2011 Newmar Dutch star 4086.

The couch is not in good shape and we want to replace it. The dealer that we are buying from gave us a crazy price quote to install and said it needed a base plate.

Does anyone have any idea if they really need a base and why?

We do not have a plan for anyone to sit there while driving so I didn’t know if that is the reason.

The only other reason I could dream of is the couch deeper than the slide out?

Options would be greatly appreciated

I've replaced the couch in our coach. The best RV furniture comes from Villa International.
And they can be "Crazy" expensive. They do have a steel frame with a place to attach seat belts.

You could personally install a couch without the steel safety frame but I doubt a dealer will because of liability.
I would ask about having the current couch recovered. This would be much more affordable.

Check out Bradd Nad Hall in Elkhart IN. I am sure they can provide what ever you need. On a previous coach I replaced the coach with theater seating that had a center arm rest that would raise up in the rare instance I needed seating for three.

Friend of mine replaced the couch in his Monaco with a nice hide a bed couch that fit. He made some brackets and bolted it to the floor.

What couch are you talking about, the one on the Passenger Side or the one on the Driver Side. If it's the one on the passenger side, it's not a normal couch, but has a notch of 5" about 8" back from the front of the couch, to go over the slide out floor. The driver side is a normal frame couch. Both can be mounted if they are the correct couch to the floor, and seat belts can be attached as well.

They measured to make sure they would fit. The trifold would be on drivers and theater seat would be on passenger

They could be recovered but the current pull out couch sags down so I don’t think that is fixable and the other one is just a couch so I want to get a recliner
