Dutch Star roof leak

We are really new to RVing and bought this 2005 Dutch Star which seems to be generally in good condition, has been used regularly and everything works. That being said, about a week ago, it rained for 24 hours, and was hot and humid so we ran the A/C. I noticed a drip coming through a light fixture which seems to be located very close to the front A/C unit. I have looked on the roof for cracks and found none as I had previously checked that before we left.

Then, yesterday, it rained all day. There was no leak. (also no A/C running)

I have a ducted system with a ceiling in the coach. How would I take down some ceiling to look at where the A/C comes through the roof? I think I may need a gasket there and I have heard there are 4 bolts I need to find to remove the unit. I'm not seriously thinking of doing this right now, just planning for the future!

To check the gasket you need to remove the AC from the roof, you can't get to them from inside without tearing the whole ceiling up. Also, Newmar uses a special gasket due to their plenum system.

To get to the 4 bolts, you need to take the cover off, just tighten them gently.
I guess to replace the gasket, you may have to remove the unit.

Could be the drain troughs are plugged up in the AC and overflowing into the plenum. You'll have to take the shroud off and look for the trough around the condenser.

If you decide to remove the AC unit, here's some pictures of what to expect to see.

Thank you for posting the pictures! I haven't had to take either of my A/C units off yet, but, should I have to, I now know what the basics look like which takes a lot of the anxiety out of the project.

Yes, thank you very much for the pictures and thank you to everyone else for the information. It is really helpful. I will check out the draining issue. I hope that is all it is. I had the covers off and didn't see anything obvious at that time but i have more information now. Thanks again!
