Dutch Star Shocks

Over the last few years I have read about the OE shocks and then replacing them with Koni's.... Thought y'all might like to see why. Although the picture does not do the difference justice the OE ones are the same as the ones on my 3/4 pick up, the konis are easily more than 2 times the size! And the ride is greatly improved.

I have a 2000 DSDP bought 8 years ago. 3 years in I had Bilstein shock's installed. After 3 years my front end started bobbing up and down. Had Koni's installed up front and we have had smooth sailing ever since. Now I am surprised on a new Dutchstar that they would go with a shock that appears undersized.

We have a 18 LA with the Spartan K-3 chassis and we up grade our 46mm front shocks with what was standard on the KA with 60mm shocks. Then also added control valves to the front air bags also added to the improved suspension in the front. My understanding starting in 2020 all Spartan K-3 started coming with the 60mm front shocks.

Caution when asking about chassis part numbers ; you need to know chassis manufacturer first .

Good info to include in your signature line .

Here is a link to Koni. Plug in your coach info and it will provide the shock numbers.

Dutch Star Shocks

I have replaced the front shocks with the Konis on the last two Dutch stars we’ve owned. Very much worth the $500 or so.

Koni RED are old technology. The Koni EVO was designed for IFS front ends. They only make Koni FSD for the rears. I placed the EVO's on the front and the FSD's on the rear, including tag.

Did you need any adapter or anything for the fronts? 99B 3234?

Straight change for the rear and tag? 8805 1009 rear 8805 1013 tag?

Thanks

Mine is on a Freightliner. The front shocks are pretty easy to do. A few minutes with an air gun.

The rears can be changed with the tires on, but it's a nightmare as the shocks are between the tires and the frame. It's actually easier to pull the duals to change the shocks. The tag and dual axles use the same Koni FSD shock.

The EVO's on the front really took away a lot of that short jarring you get on a rough road. The stuff that makes the front MCD shades bounce like crazy. The rears I noticed more stability, less lean, in turns.

I put Koni Evo front shocks on our 2004 MADP with Freightliner chassis. Tied with the residential refrigerator for best upgrade. FWIW, I replaced the refrigerator and the front shocks myself.
