Dutch Star tag

2016 Dutch Star 4369

This has the steerable tag axle.
It also has a "tag dump".

QUESTION....
The steering kicks in under 20 MPH.
If you are entering a campground and you
hit the "tag dump" button......does the axle lock up straight?
What if you are already turning a corner when you "dump"?

What takes preference?

Just looking at all aspects of this and want info other than from
a salesman.

Thanks

Suggest you call Freightliner at 800-385-4357. The folks who answer the phone are most helpful.

I didn't think the steerable tags had a dump feature? Where did you get the info?
Looking at the FL site it doesn't say anything about lifting it.
I do get a chuckle about the comparison to a non-liftable, non-steering tag though. Having a non-steering one makes no difference if the tag is liftable. It would be cheaper and lower maintenance though

Mr D, the steerable tag on the Freightliner has a tag dump feature. The typical lift / dump feature works at real low speed, such as below 8-10 MPH, to prevent damage to the tires due to overloading. The steerable tag works automatically up to 20MPH forward speed, which allows it to be useful in city driving. Since the axle locks in straight position in reverse, it needs the dump feature.
As far as the dump operation in forward, Freightliner can give you the answer. The 2015 XCR chassis for Newmar were equipped with a passive steer tag axle control module with most of the connections unused. It had an Auto/Manual/Disable function for forward motion below 8 MPH so the functionality may still be there.
