Dutch Star Yearly comparisons

I own a 2000 DSDP with a Cat on a Freightliner Chassis and love it but I would like to get into a newer model.Without researching each year Specs I'm trying to narrow down the differences of various year of the Dutch Star. I'm looking to keep purchase price under $100,000. I 'm thinking a 2002- 2005 should be in the ballpark. can anyone explain differences in power trains, interior features, suspensions, steering etc. Some great features were introduced in various years. I may be asking a lot but I'm trying to see what years certain features were introduced that are must haves. I would like to sell mine and get a newer year.

Personally, I think looking at the 2007 basic features is worth consideration. The 40' NADA price range for a typical 40' models ranges from $97K to $117K but a good deal could get you at the lower end of that range.

One particular consideration I'm looking at as I search for our next coach is that our 2006 has an exhaust brake while in 2007 they upgraded to the 2 stage "Jake Brake". After this summer's mountain travels I would have really appreciated it especially for my heavier 43' coach.

You also get the Spartan MM Chassis with IFS with some pretty good basement rail height clearance. With that you get the 400 HP ISL.

Spartan MM Chassis on list and if you can do it a 2008 would have Comfort Drive.
You can use this link to compare model year options between years.
Good luck.

I would stay before exhaust emission stuff were required, starting 2005 and above I believe. Extra parts you have to maintain, like EGR valves. As an aside my extended warranty will not cover EGR or related failures, tells you something.

I believe Newmar started installing the Cummins ISL engine in 2004. This engine has a higher torque and Bhp than the previous Cummins ISC engine. The ISL's exhaust brake is significantly better and 2004 is pre-DEF. If a Spartan chassis it is a Mountain Master with IFS. I upgraded from a 1999 DSDP to a 2004 DSDP a couple of years ago and have no regrets.

You might download the yearly brochures for the Nemar model(s) you are interested in and look through the various standard and optional equipment. Go to this link for the various brochures: http://www.newmarcorp.com/resources/brochures-archive/
Have fun.
