In our 2003 Dutchstar 3803 we have experienced three failures of our bed electric blanket when inadvertently left plugged in while on the inverter. What is causing this and is unplugging it the only way to avoid it?

If you have a modified sine wave inverter it will destroy some electronics, notably electronic heating pads/blankets. You really should get a pure sine wave inverter.
Have a friend with an older ESSEX that fried his electric blankets for that reason.
When we ordered our '02 DSDP I specifically upgraded the inverter to a PSW unit as a special as I remember.

If you don't want to replace your MSW inverter with a PSW, you could look for an electric blanket that is powered (similar to laptop computers) from a power supply converter. Those seem to clean up the power.

Every night during the winter. If I remember, I put DW’s side on the highest setting to warm the bed and she turns it off before getting in, but mine is on low, all night long. We like it cold in the BR while sleeping, but don’t much care for shivering all night.

There are 12volt blankets that go underneath your sheet and you sleep on top of them.

The smoke alarm went off and found found the source was the electric blanket controller. This was on shore power.

This product got great review except for the 'loved it until it stopped working'.

Tried to provide a review for the possible fire hazard. Got threatened with legal action.

Did some more digging and found there had been house fires.

I took it back for a refund. The product was still being sold. Last time we shopped there.

So it may or may not be the inverter.

Yep....a lot of coffee makers and electric blankets don't like MSW inverters.

I used mine last night on the inverter. Plugged it in shortly before going to bed and unplugged when going to bed. Closing the bedroom maintains the rear of the MH warm enough if I wear a sweatshirt to bed.

I am in Ocean Shores WA. In the PNW you can choose between cool desert nights or cool damp nights.

In Louisiana I keep the TV on for the weather. Hurricane or tornado or both. If it gets below freezing, everything comes to a stop.

Here I have not checked the weather for days until a man walking his told me there was a heat advisory for this weekend.

High of 86 with a low of 63 with a light breeze and low humidity.

The reason for the advisory is people not used to nice weather tend to over do it when they do not drizzle cooling them off.

Mt Rainier and the Olympic Mountains are breathtaking with at least 120 mile visibility. Plan to go for a drive on the beach hoping for a sunset.
