Electric jacks

Looking at a 2012 Ventana. Apparently this model came with electric jacks before they switched to hydraulic in 2013. Does anyone have experience with this system and does it work well?

Yes, Don....couldn't stay away for long. Gotta get back into a smaller rig and do a little more traveling while there's still time. Nice to see you got a new Dutch!

Welcome back.
Yes electric jacks had problems and this Newmar search may give you a few of them.
This link using COM_NET can get you to the electric jack systems operation, there were Equalizer and Atwood at the time.

If you have the newer Atwood system with sensors you won't have a problem, otherwise it's not if they will fail but when they will fail. The sensored jacks have a small 2 wire cable going to each jack in addition to the 2 larger power wires that were yellow and red on my jacks. Another way to tell is to listen for some ratcheting sounds as each jack hits its home position. The bad system will make the sounds, the good sensored system will not. 007's link has lots of good info.

We had our system replaced with the sensored one by Newmar in 2014 and it was trouble-free after that. They stopped making them when Atwood sold the line to Lippert.

while true that atwood was sold to lippert, lippert still has control boards for the old jacks laying around. you have to get the old part number and have the parts guy cross ref. it with their system. also there are whole jacks for sale on ebay, and when all else fails, Visone salvage in kentucky has a ton of junked newmars on the lot.

Glad they got their act together on spare parts. Right after the acquisition several members posted that they called Lippert and could not get any spares.

Just my 2-cents worth.

If the Newmar brochure says that Ventana has "electric" jacks don't necessarily believe it. The Newmar brochure for my 2008 KSDP says it has "Electric" leveling jacks. It doesn't. It has 12,000 lb. HWH hydraulic jacks! I know this because I just had to have one fixed.

HWH might have been offered as a option to previous owner.
