Electric radiant vs induction cooktop
Could use some help here deciding on a cooktop.
We are trying to finalize an order for our new 2015 Dutch Star and DW is not sure which cooktop will best suit her needs. She has the radiant cooktop in the S&B and has been researching the induction but has little experience with it.
We understand the need for specific cookware with the induction but we would like some guidance from anyone who has experience with both types of units before we make a final decision.
I would like to get this decision right and avoid having to change it a few months down the road! Thanks.
Scott

Induction is awesome!
Heat control as precise as cooking on gas.
High efficiency. Doesn't heat up the kitchen like electric radiant or gas.
Safer....cooktop generates no heat of its own.....all the heat is generated in the
Pot itself.
I bought one soup pot and one non stick, stainless steel fry pan at Target for less than $99.
They are very high Quality, and will work with anything. Look for the induction "symbol" on the bottom of the pan like this...

We really like the induction. We got a 1300 watt table top with frying pan for 89. Tried it out. Bought several more for gifts and an extra one for us.
Just got our all electric coach and have only cooked 5 times but love it. These units are 1800 so better heat than the smaller unit.
If you are unsure Target/Kohls may have a table top. Try it you will like it.
Love to show people how it heats without the top getting hot except for transfer heat from the pot. You can boil a pot of water and put your finger on the top right beside the pot.

I've got a radiant cooktop in our '13 Essex AND a single portable Induction cooktop. I ONLY Use the Portable Induction to cook on. I like it so well I'm looking to replace the a radiant cooktop with the True Induction 2 burner flush mount.
Go induction and you will never regret it.

Thanks for the help, looks like an induction cooktop is included in our order. Now I just need to get Newmar to wrap up our specials and we're on our way.

When looking for new pots and pan for your new induction range just take a magnet to the store with you, if the magnet sticks to the bottom of the pot you are good, if it does not keep on looking, this is a very quick way to make sure it will work on your new induction top!!!

Thanks all for the education. Guess we'll order the induction when we go for a new rig (if the DW ever lets me get a new one that is)! She hates it when I go looking.

So my old Griswold cast iron pans will work? Wish I'd have kept all of the ones my mother had. I only kept a couple of the bigger ones, sure do like them.

We bought one of those "As Seen On TV" induction cook plates at Walmart to test the technology out and love it. Our 2015 Entegra Cornerstone has the induction stovetop. I'll use the portable for outside meals. One of the neat things to do is to put a paper towel underneath your fry pan. It won't burn! It makes cleanup so much easier.

Mr. D, old cast iron cookware will work great with an induction cooktop. That Griswold is good stuff - far superior to the cheap Lodge that is about all one can find anymore.

Induction is absolutely the way to go. DW says that when it's time to go back to a S&B it WILL have an induction cook top and convection oven.
Space is always a consideration so check out nesting induction cook ware. It all packs down into a single fry pan and short enough to fit in a side drawer.

A good place to find Induction Cookware is IKEA.
