Engine A/C problem

good day, I have a 2006 mountain air 4032 with 400 hp cummins that needs the engine A/C recharged and was wondering if any knows how much refridgerant that needs to go back in a dry system ? the label on my coach does not show how much it needs. thanks for your help.

Sorry you're having problems.
Dealing with a totally drained system is different than topping up a partial discharged system, and I would not consider it a DIY job.
If the system has been totally drained, water vapor may have gotten in through the bad seal . System should be pressurized , leak repaired, then evacuated before refrigerant is added. Any humidity in the system can lead to a compressor failure, a very expensive repair.

If you're after fill amounts for a shop dealing with your problem , then the Freightliner or Spartan help lines would be your best bet for exact info.

On a Spartan system it is 3.2 pounds for a complete fill on an empty system.

I have a Cummins ISL 400 and the AC needed charging (or so I thought). I had it repaired at a trusted local shop. I also had an intermittent heater/AC fan problem. Long story short, it turned out that there were lots of other problems with the AC. $750 later it works great. We got it done just in time for winter. Argh!! After this experience, I too would suggest having a professional check it out before doing anything on your own.

Here is information on the Evan AC/Heating system in your coach.
Will include chassis' Spartan, Freightliner, Ford and Workhorse.
Here is info on the Evans control valve possibly not installed properly this info will cover dash AC's back to at least 2000.

well took my 06 Mountain air out after pumping down my a/c and recharging it with 3.8 pounds of refridgerant only to have it disappear in the first trip of 240 miles???? this after loosing 2.0 pounds prior to the 3.8 that we installed. looked with black light and checked for leaks with sniffer and nothing. HEEEELP

There are two places that are difficult to deal with.
The first is the evaporator because it is usually contained inside an air handling box. The flow control be it TEX or orifice is also often inside the same box. Did you open the air box??
The other is the pump (compressor) shaft seal. The UV dye can be hard to see here as it often gets flung out to the sides and lands in tiny drops that don't get you attention unless you are looking for them.

A belated welcome to the forum & irv2 twinguides.
Here is a Brochure and Owners Guide for you.
In my signature below are links to many others that will relate to your MA.
The AC compressor is up by the motor in back, saying we have had people replace their rubber heater hoses because over time the chassis frame may wear through the hoses.
Just want you to be aware of the fact the AC lines maybe in conduit maybe to avoid this problem or you may have connecting hoses between tie points along the run and they could develop a leak. The links provided may show what and how there run.

Twinglides, please keep us updated on your progress. I have an '05 MADP with the exact same issues, I'm loosing Freon at a fast rate and can't seem to locate the leak. Good news, the a/c works great when it has Freon, bad news is it doesn't hold Freon more than a couple of days, you wouldn't think a leak that bad would be hard to find.

twinglides, the more research I do the more I'm thinking this is above my pay grade, as bad as my leak is I'm worried about moisture in the system and how much oil I've lost. I'll got a Evans Tempcon service center not to far from me that I'm going to drop by and check out later this week, if I like what I see I'll let them work on it but would like to know what you come up with so I can keep an eye on these guys. Last time I turned my mh over to a service center to correct a problem, they just started replacing parts till they found the problem, this was after I had researched the problem and gave them my diagnosis (btw, my diagnosis was correct) so I'm having a few "trust" issues.
