Entry door awning

I read some earlier post on this subject, but my problem is when retracting the entry door power awning it will run for an second or 2 and then it will stop. I can hear a click and had to let it cool a bit before trying again. Finally after several tries and helping it I got it retracted. Anybody have similar problem?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi dhfinc,
If you hear only one click, the motor is suspect. If you hear more than one click, the motor clutch is suspect. Check the 12 VDC powering the motor. Based on the year of your coach, the problem could be:
1. 12 VDC power
2. Worn motor
3. Awning material is out of square. This causes additional strain on the motor.

The awning is spring loaded to get to the deployed position. The motor and clutch are what retracts and holds the awning closed.

Mine started acting similarly and it turned out to be debris which had fallen on the awning while extended. Over time, it had been dragged back into the mechanism and caused the fabric to get out of square. Probably not your problem, but check the simple things first.

Mine is similar to dhfinc. Press the switch and you here one click and maybe the awning moves an inch or two, out or in. Took the awning assembly off and took it to a DC motor shop. When hooked up direct to a battery source the awning travels in and out with no drama. But back on the RV I get the click and it only moves an inch, if that much. I'll do without for now. And yes, the leads to the awning were reading 12VDC.
