Entry Door Electric Lock Sluggish

The entry door electric locking mechanism was very sluggish and sometimes failed to lock the door. I ordered and installed a replacement latching mechanism from PTL Engineering. This was an easy repair. The part was around $30 to $40 as I recall. Now it locks with a resounding and reassuring clunk. See photos below.

Note of caution: be sure you get the wire polarity correct before reinstalling the door cover. PTL changed the color coding on the wires on some latches.

It's nice to know that the actuator is available from PTL. Did you add the SS door handle when it was apart?

No, and frankly, I didn't know that was available. PTL Engineering has an instruction video on their website that is very helpful.
