Yes, support seems to be an issue, Victron expects their dealers to provide end-user support and some don't or aren't able to.
I assume you've done the obvious things like checking the connections to the shunt (which is also where the battery voltage is sensed) and at the other end of the sense wire to insure a solid connection.
Was the Xantrex inverter installed with the BMV or later? Try removing the fuse to it (or otherwise disabling it) and see if the erratic readings go away. If they do that will be a clue to whomever repairs it.
The BMV has a 5 year warranty and if it isn't a wiring issue it's definitely not working right, so your dealer should repair/exchange it.
