Wink Escape window on 2020 Newmar Baystar sport

Has anyone replaced the inoperable back window in 2020 Newmar Baysport 2813 model to make an easier escape in case of fire. With that rear window next to the roof ladder it would have seem the best option instead of smaller window at head of bed. Love the coach and floor plan other than this lack of better egress.

Welcome to the forum.
Some BS owners have replaced window for better ventilation for you the egress should help you also.
I have put many of their MOD's in QT's # 3 second page, I will see if I can find the window replacement.
Here it is only one mod of many mod's for BS, should look them all up.
Here is another one you will be needing some time in future.
Enjoy your coach and safe travels.

I have the same need in my BSS 3008. The tiny awkwardly placed escape window would be very difficult to use. The giant fixed rear window would be so much better. My last coach had a similar big window that had a screen but also was the escape window. I’d love to replace my fixed one. I’m not buying the exhaust ingress concern as the exhaust pipe is on the side a good 10-12 feet forward. Let us know if you come up with a good solution.

This is the path the wife and I have taken. We chose to purchase this "kit".

The flashers are kept up front in the drivers area. The window breaker on the wall near the large rear window. It is mounted with command strips. The wife and I have practiced emergency escape by handling the window breaker, and faux "breaking" the glass, and going outside and descending the rear ladder.
Of course you could simply carry a hammer or tire thumper in the rear bedroom. Perhaps this is of some help to you?

I am wondering if an escape window would work or would it hit the ladder. I remember reading about one RV manufacturer having to change their design because of that.

I keep a fire extinguisher and a large hammer near mine. I was told they don't make that window an escape style due to safety concerns for carbon monoxide/exhaust fume poisoning.

I would hope the people that changed that window would realize if left open while driving the exhaust is going to flow into the MH and have they done away with the CO2 protector.
If your a forgetful person, maybe should not change to escape window.

On mine the factory escape window is on the side not at all far from the exhaust. The rear window would be quite a bit farther away. And it worked fine on my Fleetwood. My escape window is tiny and above the “dresser” and under the television. It’s also a long drop to the ground. I’d have a difficult time using it and I do not believe my wife could do it at all. The big back window could be comfortably accessed from the bed and the ladder easily reached. I have a window breaking hammer handy and I suspect that an adrenaline motivated shoulder might pop the thing right out. That is my current plan in an actual emergency.

Not having a back window on our Ventana I can't look to see what type of glass is used in the back . Safety glass? Tempered? You would certainly want the glass to shatter in a zillion pieces to escape quickly.
