Extension cord

Got sick of playing with extension cords and storage so I installed a 40' 16 ga recoil cord in the basement. Plugged it into the outlet I installed for the freezer and installed it on the back wall inside the star bracing. Had to move the two electric boxes up above the bottom of the rail to provide clearance. Pivots both ways so the cord can come out of either bay. Sorry the pics are sideways...

That's a great idea that I may have to copy.

You know, sometimes you just keep doing the same thing, like searching for an extension cord, then the light comes on. Great idea. It would be nice to have an easy to reach, already connected cord on the patio side.

Our last trip, I started to make a list of things I wanted to improve/repair. By the 3rd month, the list was rather long! I've been chopping away at it since we've been home for the last month and this item was almost the last thing on the list. Now to install the anti reflective film on the outside TV....

What are you running on the extension cord. 16 gauge is pretty light duty. If running tools or higher drawing equipment, a 14 guage cord would be justified. If for just a light or something small, 16 guage will do fine. Tools dont like being starved of power on light cords.

Thanks for this idea. I have a cord reel in my wood shop needing a place to hang and I think you have given me an idea to give it a new home.

Already identified the cord reel I want on Amazon and added to my growing shopping list for the new coach.

I liked on the Allegro bus that they build an outlet on the underside of the door slide.

Sorry, I've been out in the back yard putting down sod for the past few days. The unit I used is made by Reelworks HERE. Seems to be a quality unit. The original post was incorrect as far as wire size. I decided last minute to go with the 14 ga unit. Should be enough for anything I'm going to use.
