Factory Pickup Cost?

All,

Thanks to everyone on this forum that have been so helpful in providing information on ordering a Newmar. It really helps in the negotiation to be confident and informed, and this forum provides that to folks.

I will be setting down with our local Newmar dealer shortly to discuss ordering a Ventana 4037 and am leaning towards factory delivery even though the reported cost is a little high. We purchased out TT from this same dealer and was not too impressed with the tech delivery so I want a good experience with our fist coach - hence factory delivery.

I have seen $2800.00 quoted as the price. I'm curious whether this is added on after any discount or is this item negotiable? Is $2800.00 still what folks are paying?

Thanks

Steve

That option to my knowledge is fixed and the dealer has no room up or down with it and the $2,800.00 sounds accurate and is what we paid.

There is a thread by DEEK in value of factory deliver that may help in this link.

On the London Aire order form I downloaded it list as $2895(lower right corner). I kinda look at this as a must, but something about paying them for this service for a half a million dollar coach just doesn't sit right with me I must admit.

The reason the factory charges a fixed price for this is because the cost of the PDI is supposed to be built into the dealer's markup. Newmar doesn't make any allowance for doing PDI at the factory in the price they charge the dealer.

If the factory is doing it, you should be able to get the dealer to knock off an additional amount because he's NOT doing it. How much they'll credit you will tell you how much effort they put into the PDI.

Good link - THanks 007. All good comments. It appears that there may be some wiggle room here, but may be difficult depending on the dealer. The posts did raise another question regarding Freight charges. It does seem that factory pickup should eliminate any freight charges???

Thanks all!!

One would think.

However, while talking with a North Trail RV sales rep at the Tampa RV show, I was told specifically there would be NO price break for the factory doing the PDI instead of the dealer. Doesn't make sense.

I heard one guy said that I must have had a puzzled look, and my salesman quickly said when you are ready we won't be beat on price. I am sure if you told them RVONE, or someone else did they would match it. Frankly I don't care what column they take it out of best bottom line gets my business when I'm ready. I will gladly take trip to factory sit with them design dream coach and email order form out to dealers to compete.
