fantastic vent fan gear replacement

After fighting with the slipping gear handle on my fantastic vent in the bathroom, I called the company and they sent me a new gear assembly and arm ( for $47) but no instructions on how to replace it. Anyone replace one before?
I have the one that is operated by a Thermostat and has a push up ( automatic ) or pull down( manual) in the unit.

I have the same problem, but haven't fixed mine yet. I have, however, fixed the unit several times in the past. I can't explain how to do it, but it is pretty obvious and straight forward once you start taking the pieces apart. Just start by removing the plastic cover/housing of the star-shaped knob (knob first) and you will see what to do next.
